Code structure

How the CST and the cClassTrib enter the tax document

In the NF-e and the NFC-e, the IBS and CBS group of each item carries the CST in field UB13 and the cClassTrib in field UB14, each with occurrence 1-1: one of each per item. The layout is in Technical Note 2025.002-RTC, now at version 1.52, from September 2026.

1

UB13, the CST

Three digits, according to the IBS/CBS CST table. It says the type of taxation of the item and defines which groups are required or forbidden.

2

UB14, the cClassTrib

Six digits, according to the cClassTrib table. It matches a provision of LC 214/2025. In the 173 codes of v.1.70, the first three digits match the CST.

3

CST groups

The indicators of the CST table say whether a group of the item is required (1) or not allowed (0) for that CST.

4

cClassTrib groups

The indicators of the cClassTrib table allow or forbid groups such as regular taxation, presumed credit, single-stage taxation and credit reversal.

5

Validation

The validation rules of the technical note (NT) check that the CST exists, that the cClassTrib exists, that one fits the other and that the document model accepts the code.

The law behind the CST

Eight blocks of LC 214 that the codes reflect

Technical Note 2025.002-RTC rests on Constitutional Amendment 132/2023 and Complementary Law 214/2025, and the CST and cClassTrib in the table mirror rules of the law. These are the blocks of LC 214/2025 articles that appear most in the codes of the table, according to the compiled text on the Planalto website.

Regular regime

Art. 41 of LC 214 defines the regular regime as the set of all the incidence and calculation rules of the law, including the differentiated regimes and the specific regimes. It is the base on which CST 000 and 200 operate.

Zero rate and reductions

The law reduces to zero the rates for the basic food basket (art. 125), medicines (art. 146) and medical devices (art. 144), among others. It reduces by 60% health, education and food (arts. 128 to 142) and by 30% the intellectual professions (art. 127).

Immunity, non-incidence and exemption

Art. 6 lists what is not subject to the tax, art. 8 makes exports immune and art. 9 does the same for supplies by public entities, temples and organizations. Art. 94 exempts baggage and international shipments, and art. 157 exempts urban, semi-urban and metropolitan collective public transport.

Suspension

The law suspends payment on supplies with a specific export purpose (art. 82) and on imports under special customs regimes, such as transit (art. 84), bonded warehouse (art. 85), duty-free shop (art. 87), temporary stay (art. 88) and inward processing (art. 90).

Fuels

Art. 172 makes IBS and CBS apply only once on gasoline and other fuels. Arts. 178 and 179 deal with responsibility for the biofuel percentage in the blend and with EAC outputs, and art. 180 forbids credit on purchases for resale.

Specific regimes

Financial services (art. 181), health care plans (art. 234), real estate (art. 251), cooperatives (art. 271), bars and restaurants, hotels, collective transport (arts. 285 and 286), regional air transport (art. 287) and travel agencies (art. 289) have their own incidence rules.

Manaus Free Trade Zone and free trade

The law suspends the tax on imports by an incentivized industry in the ZFM (art. 443), zeroes the rates on operations between industries and to the ZFM (arts. 445 and 448), grants presumed credit (art. 450) and deals with free trade areas (art. 463).

Real estate development

Arts. 485 to 487 deal with the special regime for real estate development, land subdivision and leasing with payment on gross revenue. They are the provisions behind CST 220 and 221 in the table.

Documents

Which tax documents carry the code

Technical Note 2025.002-RTC covers the NF-e (model 55) and the NFC-e (model 65). In v.1.70, the spreadsheet marks, for each code, the documents it applies to.

104

NF-e (model 55)

codes marked, 60% of the 173.

40

NFC-e (model 65)

codes marked, 23% of the 173.

73

NFS-e

codes marked, 42% of the 173.

12

CT-e

codes marked, 7% of the 173.

15

NF3-e

codes marked, 9% of the 173.

16

NFCom

codes marked, 9% of the 173.

62

DUIMP

codes marked, 36% of the 173.

19

NF-e ABI

codes marked, 11% of the 173.

Also marked in the spreadsheet: NFS-e Via (1), CT-e OS (12), BP-e (9), BP-e TA (8), BP-e TM (3), NFAg (11), NFGas (10), DeRE (13), DIR (9).

Why an exempt operation also carries a code

Art. 60 of LC 214/2025 requires an electronic tax document for IBS and CBS operations, including immune, exempt, zero-rate or suspended ones, and for transfers between establishments of the same taxpayer. That is why CST 400, 410 and 550 exist in the table.

When the rules apply

In production, in 2025, IBS, CBS and IS information was optional and only validated if filled in. From January 2026, the IBS and CBS validation rules apply. The rejection for a missing IBS and CBS group applies, for the normal regime (CRT 3), to invoices issued from 01/07/2026 in testing and from 03/08/2026 in production. For issuers with CRT 1, 2 and 4 (Simples Nacional, sublimit excess and MEI), the technical note plans to implement the rule in production from 04/01/2027.

Checking

Six points to check your master data against the table

The check does not decide which code to use: it verifies that the code the company decided on is accepted by the table and by the validation rules of the technical note.

Table version

Confirm in the National NF-e Portal that the configured version is the current one. The current version is v.1.70, published on 01/10/2026.

Existing CST

The CST in the master data must be among the 18 in the table. A CST outside the list causes a rejection for a nonexistent CST.

Existing and compatible cClassTrib

The code must be among the 173 in the table and belong to the CST reported, which you can see in the first three digits.

Document model

The code must be marked for the document issued: NF-e (model 55), NFC-e (model 65) or another from the spreadsheet column.

Required groups

The indicators of the CST and the cClassTrib say which item groups must be filled in and which must not.

Validity

The code must be valid on the date of the document: start on 01/01/2026 in v.1.70 and an end of validity only for the three codes of CST 220.

Service scope

Limit of our role

Choosing the code for each operation belongs to the client and the accountant. DFSpro comes in after the decision: it sets up SAP to apply it and proves, in testing, what the system records.

What DFSpro does

  • Designs and sets up in SAP the determination of CST and cClassTrib that the company decided on.
  • Proves the behavior with test documents and records the evidence.
  • Checks what the system records against the current version of the table.

What it does not do

  • It does not choose the code for each operation: the tax decision belongs to the company and its accountant.
  • It does not interpret LC 214 in place of the legal team.
  • It does not calculate tax: the table gives the reduction, not the effective rate.

To take the decision to the system, see tax setup in SAP or talk to DFSpro.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about CST and cClassTrib of the reform

01What is the difference between CST and cClassTrib?+

The CST has 3 digits and shows the type of taxation of the item, such as full taxation, reduced rate, exemption or suspension. The cClassTrib has 6 digits and details the situation inside a CST, tied to a provision of LC 214/2025. In version 1.70 there are 18 CST and 173 cClassTrib, and each code belongs to one CST. The first three digits of the cClassTrib repeat the CST.

02Where do the CST and the cClassTrib appear on the tax document?+

In the IBS and CBS group of each item of the NF-e and the NFC-e: the CST is field UB13 (3 digits) and the cClassTrib is field UB14 (6 digits) of the layout, according to Technical Note 2025.002-RTC.

03How many CST and cClassTrib does each item carry?+

One of each. In the layout of the technical note, UB13 and UB14 have occurrence 1-1 in the IBS and CBS group of the item. If an invoice has items with different treatments, each item carries its own pair of codes.

04Are the first three digits of the cClassTrib always the CST?+

In v.1.70, yes: in all 173 codes the first three digits match the CST. The technical note also rejects the invoice when the cClassTrib is incompatible with the CST reported, with message 1024.

05What is the current version of the table and how often does it change?+

The current version is v.1.70 of Technical Bulletin 2025.002, published on 01/10/2026, with 173 cClassTrib codes and 18 CST. The National NF-e Portal lists 11 releases of the table, from 07/12/2024 to 01/10/2026, and the technical note warns that the table may change. v.1.60, from 23/06/2026, had 164 codes, and v.1.70 added 9. Before you set up, check whether there is a version above v.1.70.

06Who decides the code for each operation?+

The company, with support from the accountant and the legal team. Choosing the code is the client's tax decision. DFSpro sets up SAP to apply the decision and proves, with test documents, that the system records what was decided.

07Is the IBS and CBS reduction percentage the rate the company pays?+

No. For each code, the table gives the rate type and the IBS and CBS reduction percentage: 0% is no reduction and 100% is full reduction. The rate applied to the operation depends on the law and on the company's decision.

08Why does an exempt, immune or zero-rate operation also carry a cClassTrib?+

Because art. 60 of LC 214/2025 requires an electronic tax document for these operations, and the technical note requires CST and cClassTrib in the IBS and CBS group of the item. That is why the table has CST for exemption (400), immunity and non-incidence (410) and suspension (550). Art. 60 also gives the information on the document a declaratory nature, which amounts to a confession of the amount due.

09What happens if SAP records a wrong or outdated code?+

The invoice may be rejected or go out with a code that does not match the operation. The technical note rejects, for example, a cClassTrib that does not exist (1023), is incompatible with the CST (1024) or is not allowed in the document model (1025). Checking what is configured against the current version avoids finding the problem at issuing time.

10What do the ind_ indicators of the table mean?+

They link the code to the item groups. In the CST, 1 means the group is required and 0 that it is not allowed. In the cClassTrib, indicators such as ind_gTribRegular and ind_gEstornoCred condition specific groups. ind_gCredPresOper equal to 1 allows the presumed credit, without requiring it. In v.1.70, 31 codes have ind_gTribRegular equal to 1.

11Does any code have an end of validity?+

In version 1.70, three codes (220001, 220002 and 220003) carry an end of validity on 01/01/2026, the same date as the start. The release of 23/06/2026 added 221002, 221003 and 221004, with equivalent names, under CST 221. What to do with master data or invoices that use an ended code is the company's decision, with the accountant.

12What is the LC 214 provision shown with each code?+

It is the article of Complementary Law 214/2025 that the cClassTrib code matches. The law is the primary source, and the full text is on the website of Planalto. For the general context, see consumption tax reform.

13Since when is an invoice rejected without the IBS and CBS group?+

For the normal regime (CRT 3), Technical Note 2025.002-RTC v1.52 rejects an invoice without the IBS and CBS group when issued from 01/07/2026 in testing and from 03/08/2026 in production. For issuers with CRT 1, 2 and 4 (Simples Nacional, sublimit excess and MEI), the technical note plans to implement the rule in production from 04/01/2027.

14How does the table treat single-stage taxation of fuels?+

Through CST 620, with seven codes in v.1.70: fuels (620001), with withholding (620002 and 620003), a blend of EAC with gasoline A above or below the mandatory percentage (620004 and 620005) and other cases. Technical note v1.50 reworked the layout for single-stage fuel taxation. Art. 172 of LC 214/2025 makes IBS and CBS apply only once on the fuels listed, and art. 180 forbids credit on purchases for resale.

15How are debit and credit notes tied to the cClassTrib?+

The technical note has debit and credit note purposes and a compatibility table. For example, a loss in stock (tpNFDebito 07) requires cClassTrib 410030, and removal from the Simples Nacional (08) requires 811003. A combination outside the table is rejected. Fine and interest (04) and advance payment (06) do not limit the cClassTrib.

16Does the table also apply to the NFS-e and other documents?+

The spreadsheet has one column per tax document (NF-e, NFC-e, CT-e, NFS-e and others), marked with 1 for the documents the code applies to. In v.1.70, 73 of the 173 codes are marked for the NFS-e. For the NFS-e, see the national NFS-e standard in SAP, which covers the combination with the NBS.

17Does someone using GUEPARDO Tax need the official table?+

The table is published by the National NF-e Portal and applies to any environment, with GUEPARDO Tax or without it. It serves as a reference to check what is configured. NTT DATA owns the product, and DFSpro sells it as an Authorized Channel. What the product does with the table is in the NTT DATA documentation.

18What should I check in the SAP master data against the table?+

Six points: the table version, whether the CST exists, whether the cClassTrib exists and belongs to the CST, whether the document model accepts the code, which item groups the indicators require and whether the code is valid on the document date. The decision on the code itself remains the company's.

19How does DFSpro help take the table into SAP?+

We map the company's operations with its tax team and record the code the company decided on for each one. We set up SAP and prove the result with test documents, leaving the evidence recorded. The base is in tax master data in SAP.

20What do I need ready to talk to DFSpro?+

The list of operations the company carries out (sale, purchase, service, import, transfer), the tax decisions already made for them and access to the SAP test environment. If part of this does not exist yet, the conversation starts with mapping the scenario, through the contact page of DFSpro.

Take the table into your SAP, with proof

If the company has already decided the codes for its operations, the conversation with DFSpro starts from that list and the test environment. If it has not decided yet, the conversation starts with mapping the operations and the decisions to take with the accountant.
