From GRC NF-e to DRC: what migrates and when to use DRC or GUEPARDO Tax
GRC NF-e, SAP Electronic Invoicing for Brazil, had the end of its mainstream maintenance planned by SAP for December 31, 2025. SAP advises planning the migration to DRC, using the outbound and inbound options for Brazil. Here: what migrates, what the sources do not cover, and the method.

Go to the sectionWhat SAP said and what it did not say
SAP planned the end of mainstream maintenance of GRC NF-e for December 31, 2025, advises migrating to DRC and said there is no official migration tool. For SAP, the tax reform is not part of customer-specific maintenance.
Said by SAP
Mainstream maintenance planned to end on 31/12/2025. Migration to the outbound and inbound DRC options for Brazil. No official migration tool. Legal change stays outside customer-specific maintenance.
Client decision
Migrate to DRC or take another path, in what order and with what cutover window. The tax thesis and the strategy belong to the client. DFSpro designs the scenario, configures the tax side and proves, with evidence, how the system behaves.
When and why to migrate
Migrating is the client's decision. What SAP wrote gives four triggers to make it with a date, and all of them have a source: the post of 13/04/2023, the author's comments, the announcement of 04/02/2020 and the what's new list of the outbound service.
Mainstream maintenance ends
After 31/12/2025 the product moves to customer-specific maintenance. On 07/03/2025 SAP wrote that legal change is not covered and that the customer would have to adjust the product on its own.
The reform reaches the invoice
SAP named the tax reform, due on 01/01/2026, as a change outside customer-specific maintenance. Whether outbound DRC covers CBS and IBS in the contracted version becomes a point to verify.
The ERP will change
Conversion to S/4HANA, a rollout or an architecture change usually reopens the document design. SAP keeps S/4HANA until the end of 2040 and Business Suite 7 in mainstream maintenance until the end of 2027.
The layout changes in the service
In DRC, SAP manages the communication with the authorities' web services. The what's new list of the outbound service records, for example, NF3-e under Technical Note 2025.001, available on 08/08/2025.
Questions that set the timing
- Is your GRC NF-e already in customer-specific maintenance, or still in mainstream maintenance under your contract? The support terms are in your contract with SAP: confirm with SAP.
- Is there an S/4HANA conversion project or a rollout in the same period? Migrating the document together with the ERP avoids designing twice.
- Does the tax reform already require a new field on your invoice? The tax lead checks the act in force, and the technical team checks what the contracted DRC version documents.
- Is there a window in the tax calendar that the cutover must avoid, such as month-end close? The client decides.
- Who manages the SAP BTP global account and the licenses today? Without that access, the project cannot generate the credentials.
The GRC NF-e life cycle, with date and source
The timeline below gathers only what SAP wrote, in date order. Two of the dates come from comments by the post's author, an SAP employee, and not from a formal announcement.
| Date | What SAP wrote | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 13/04/2023 | The end of mainstream maintenance of SAP NFE is planned for 31/12/2025. The post tells readers to check the Product Availability Matrix. | SAP Community, post |
| 13/04/2023 | The outbound and inbound DRC options for Brazil are public cloud services on SAP BTP. Whoever uses GRC NF-e should plan the migration. | SAP Community, post |
| 29/09/2023 | The author's answer to a customer: there is no official SAP migration tool. Look for official implementation partners, who assess the current implementation and estimate the effort. | SAP Community, comment |
| 07/03/2025 | The author's answer: the product can stay in use, because it will enter customer-specific maintenance. Legal change is not covered, including the tax reform, due on 01/01/2026. | SAP Community, comment |
| 30/09/2025 | The inbound DRC help records the migration of the Brazil options to DRC cloud edition. The outbound DRC help records the same news on 30/10/2025. | Inbound DRC, what's new and Outbound DRC, what's new |

Where to confirm your case
The Product Availability Matrix, which the SAP post tells readers to check, and the support text of your contract define the life cycle of your release. These points are confirmed with SAP or with the partner, case by case.
The right names: GRC NF-e, DRC and cloud edition
The acronym DRC appears in more than one product, and the project conversation only moves when everyone talks about the same one. SAP's help also says that the inbound service changed its name on 11/08/2022, from SAP Document Compliance to SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, without changing how it works.

The first item of the inventory is to note which of these products the client uses and which it plans to use. A SAP Community post of 11/02/2026 describes DRC as the former GRC NF-e (source: SAP Community, 11/02/2026). The technical help pages, however, treat GRC NF-e, the outbound and inbound options and cloud edition as separate products, with migration between them.
What outbound DRC covers
The features below come from SAP's Feature Scope Description for outbound DRC, version 1.0 of 17/03/2025 (Feature Scope), and from the service's help page (SAP help).
| Outbound DRC feature | What SAP describes |
|---|---|
| Connection to authorities | SEFAZ for NF-e, NF3-e, CT-e and MDF-e. City governments for NFS-e in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. |
| Source systems | SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition. |
| Operational requests | Approval of NF-e, NFS-e, NF3-e, CT-e and MDF-e. Cancellation authorization. Electronic Correction Letter (CC-e). SVC contingency when available. NF-e number voiding. Replacement of an issued NFS-e. |
| Download | NF-e and CT-e XML in several scenarios and NFS-e XML. Bulk download of approved documents. |
| Status | Query of operation status as answered by SEFAZ or the city, and of server availability status. |
| Sending and signing | NF-e XML by email to the carrier and to the recipient, which can be switched on per establishment. Signing with the client's digital certificate. |
| Upload and storage | Upload of documents or events from the client's own storage to the NF-e and CT-e monitor. Storage of documents in the cloud. |
| Extension | NFS-e of other cities, by extending the standard service. |
Points the project confirms with SAP
- NFC-e: the project confirms with SAP whether it is covered, without assuming.
- NFS-e for municipalities beyond Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo depends on the service extension or on Partner Enablement.
- CBS and IBS are not cited in the Feature Scope, version 1.0 of 17/03/2025.
- Receiving XML, which is foreseen in the outbound scope through Inbound Simple, does not include automation, according to SAP.
Absence from the list does not prove absence from the product. What matters for the project is to turn each line into a test case (parity section) and each limit into a written question to SAP.
Inbound DRC and what changes in receiving
The inbound option handles what suppliers and carriers issued against the client's CNPJ (company tax ID). According to SAP, it queries NF-e and CT-e status at SEFAZ, sends recipient events through the eDocument Cockpit (confirmation, closing and denial of the operation) and downloads NF-e and CT-e from SEFAZ (SAP help).
What changes in receiving, in the order it appears in the project
NSU at the switch
Deactivate the previous application, find the last processed NSU (the sequence number of documents received from SEFAZ) and enter NSU+1 in the view EDOC_BR_MNG_DISTDFE. A query out of sequence, or two applications on the same CNPJ, can cause a rejection for misuse. Source: implementation tips.
Query pace
The cloud queries again in 5 minutes if there are documents to return and in 1 hour if there are none. The job EDOC_BR_DISTDFE_RETRIEVE brings documents from the cloud to the eDocument Cockpit, without calling SEFAZ. What does not come in because of missing configuration lands in EDOC_BR_PENDING_DOCU. Source: receiving job.
FLEX processes
In the migration, the GRC FLEX processes must be replaced by new processes of the eDocument framework. For CT-e there are FLEX BAdIs, and automation can also come through an extension of the framework. For LES and TM, SAP says there is no automated process. Source: migration table.
Old XML files
SAP recommends moving the XML files stored in GRC to an external repository. Uploading old documents to the eDocument Cockpit counts each one in the licensing metric, and SAP does not recommend it at high volume, because of the cost. Source: implementation tips.
Recipient events, deadlines and the tax reading of inbound are in automatic inbound NF-e, CT-e and events.
Inbound events
SAP's help describes the eDocument Cockpit as the inbound DRC monitor. The design of who triggers each event, and with what evidence, is project work.
What must be in order before you start
SAP documents the technical path in Initial Setup pages, and the implementation tips from the post's author list the points that delay projects: account, license and certificates. The list below joins both, with the source on each item.
- Service license purchased. SAP says the license must be bought before the integration credentials can be generated (tips).
- A person with access to the SAP BTP global account. If whoever managed it left the company, SAP advises opening a ticket on component BC-NEO-CIS to get new access.
- Contract check: depending on how it was set up, a second global account may exist. If that was not intended, SAP's sales team fixes it.
- Subaccount, Cloud Foundry, space, entitlement for the service, instance and service key, in the order of the Initial Setup in the help (migration to cloud edition).
- Prerequisite SAP Notes for inbound DRC, all listed in SAP Note 2776753, according to SAP.
- New root certificates for TLS communication (DigiCert TLS RSA4096 Root G5 and DigiCert Global Root G3), valid since 13/01/2026, without removing the old one before the end of the transition (inbound what's new).
- The client's digital certificates to sign and to communicate with the authorities. In DRC cloud edition, one subaccount for test and another for production.
- Adobe Forms to generate the PDFs of the documents. SAP requires it for inbound and recommends it for outbound (post of 31/10/2022).
Who runs each item is a project arrangement between Basis, integrator and tax team. Installation and technical configuration on BTP normally stay with the integrator, and the tax layer is where DFSpro works.
What each GRC customizing became in DRC
In the help of both services, SAP publishes a table with the DRC configuration steps and, next to it, the equivalent in the GRC NF-e SPRO, for comparison. It is not a migration tool: it is the guide for the team to check what each customizing became. Below, the lines that weigh most, in a free translation (outbound and inbound).
Outbound
| In outbound DRC, SAP advises | Equivalent in GRC NF-e (SPRO) |
|---|---|
| Read the CNPJ from the source system configuration, per company, in the views V_T001Z_N, parameter J_1BCG or J_1BBRANCV. | Maintain own CNPJs (view /XNFE/CNPJ_MAINTAIN). |
| Manage the digital certificates in the ERP with transaction NFE_MNG_CERT. | Electronic Invoice, Signature. |
| Get the cloud service credentials and integrate them into the source system. | Communication with the ERP back end. |
| The cloud validates the XML against the latest XSD on sending through J1BNFE. The error appears as a message. | System response by CNPJ (view /XNFE/CNPJ_SETTINGS). |
| The concept of steps does not exist in the cloud. There is no equivalent customizing. | Flow control parameters (view /XNFE/CNTRL_PROCFLOW). |
| Sending to the partner is switched on in the customer master, with the tags MAILNFE (NF-e) and MAILCTE (CT-e) in the email field. There can be more than one address. | Switch on B2B for partners, individuals and foreigners. |
| Region and environment type come from the business place configuration (views J_1BBRANCV and J_1BNFE_CUST3_4V). | Connected authority systems (view /XNFE/GOVPARNFE). |
| The main XML version is kept in J_1BNFE_CUST3_4V. The other versions, for events and voiding, are centralized in the cloud. | Version of the message types (view /XNFE/XMLVERSDETNF). |
| The service status is checked on every send to SEFAZ, and the SVC contingency system is configured centrally in the cloud. | Settings by region (view /XNFE/NFE_TSRV). |
| Signing happens in the cloud. For extra data, extend the BAdIs CL_NFE_PRINT or J_1BNF_ADD_DATA. | BAdIs for signing and for storing extension parameters. |
Inbound
| In inbound DRC, SAP advises | Equivalent in GRC NF-e (SPRO) |
|---|---|
| Manage the certificates in transaction EDOC_BR_MNG_CERT, in the source system. | Electronic Invoice, Signature. |
| Create the credentials and integrate. In all releases, configure the connection to BTP (view NFECLOUDCONFTMP). | Communication with the ERP back end. |
| No logical system: the cloud solution is installed in the source system. | Logical system by CNPJ (view /XNFE/V_TCNPJIN). |
| Execution mode of the process steps (view EDOPROCSTEPMODXV). | Flow control parameters (view /XNFE/CNTRL_PROCFLOW). |
| SIGVALID: the signature is always validated. TRANSTDF: full XML data through the BAdI J_1BNF_ADD_DATA. DANFEPRE: the DANFE (printed invoice view) appears on the first screen. BLDCOUNT: blind count in EDOCBRBLDCOUNT. | Control parameters of the process steps. |
| RCVDUPLI: warning if the XML arrives duplicated. UNKNCNPJ: error if the CNPJ is unknown. MAPDHEMI: posting date comes from the dhEmi field of the XML. | Parameters of process-independent actions. |
| NF-e process by vendor, company and plant (view EDOBRPROCDETV) and item type by CFOP (view EDOBRCFOPCATV). | Business process determination and assignment of item category to the CFOP. |
| Rejection reasons, with automatic email to the vendor (view EDOBRREASONREJV). | Rejection reasons and associated events. |
| No equivalent view for the deadlines of the recipient's response. The confirmation events go out automatically after receiving is switched on. | Response deadlines (view /XNFE/V_SITOPPDL). |
| CT-e process by company, plant and model (view EDOBRCTEPROCDETV). For LES and TM, there is no automated process. | Business process determination for the CT-e. |
The lines marked "not relevant" are the ones that mislead most, because they disappear from the SPRO without warning and take with them a decision that someone used to make on that screen. Each one must be assessed by the tax team and recorded as accepted.
ECC, S/4HANA and Cloud: what changes in each environment
The environment decides the first question of the project. SAP describes the path from GRC NF-e to the outbound and inbound options, and from those options to cloud edition, in two steps. On each card, the source comes at the end.
SAP ECC (SAP ERP)
The help of both options covers the integration with SAP ERP. GRC NF-e runs in the system itself. Business Suite 7 has mainstream maintenance until the end of 2027 and optional extended maintenance until the end of 2030, according to the announcement of 04/02/2020.
To verify: release, enhancement package and prerequisite SAP Notes.
S/4HANA, own installation
The help covers the integration with SAP S/4HANA. The steps for S/4HANA 1610 stopped being required because it is out of maintenance, according to the news item of 04/07/2022.
To verify: whether the document migration comes before, together with or after the ERP conversion.
S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition
Outbound DRC is the only messaging system available. Third-party messaging is not integrated for NF-e model 55 and for NFS-e of São Paulo and Rio. NFS-e of other cities goes through Partner Enablement (post of 31/10/2022).
To verify: what the edition's contract includes.
S/4HANA Cloud, Private Edition
KBA 2374911 lists the Private Edition among the GRC NF-e environments. The outbound Feature Scope lists SAP ERP, S/4HANA and Cloud Public Edition as sources (KBA 2374911).
On the Private Edition, confirm outbound DRC support with SAP.
DRC, cloud edition
The help records the migration of the Brazil options to it, with separate test and production subaccounts.
The ERP conversion has its own page, at ECC to S/4HANA migration, and the rollout design by company and plant is in tax rollout. When the goal is to keep the core clean, the tax Clean Core page shows where the tax document enters that decision.
Which document goes where, and what goes into the test
Document by document, the table crosses what SAP lists with what the project must prove. The sources are the Feature Scope and the what's new list of the outbound service (SAP Help, What's new).
| Document | What SAP lists in outbound DRC | What goes into the test | Where to go deeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| NF-e | Approval, cancellation, CC-e, number voiding, SVC contingency, XML download and sending by email. | Sale, return, transfer, provoked rejection and reprocessing. | Electronic tax documents |
| NFC-e | Point to confirm with SAP. | Confirm with SAP before promising the scope. | Electronic tax documents |
| CT-e | Approval, cancellation and XML download. Support for CT-e 4.00 and for receiving the simplified CT-e, according to the news items. | Issue, proof-of-delivery event and receiving of inbound CT-e. | CT-e and MDF-e |
| MDF-e | Approval and support for Technical Note 2024.002, version 1.01, according to the news items. | Issue and closing of the manifest. | CT-e and MDF-e |
| NF3-e | Approval and support for Technical Note 2025.001, according to the news item of 08/08/2025. | Only if the client issues NF3-e. | Electronic tax documents |
| NFS-e | Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo in the standard service. Other cities by extension or Partner Enablement. Replacement of an issued NFS-e. | Issue and replacement by municipality, and the path for each city outside the two. | National standard NFS-e |
Events of NF-e, CT-e and MDF-e have their own rules and deadlines, which have their own pages. In the migration project, the practical rule is one: each event that GRC handles today becomes a test case, and what DRC does not list becomes a written question, before the cutover.
Six phases, with evidence in each one
This is DFSpro's method (guidance, not a statement about the product), built from what SAP documents for the migration. The contract, the environment and the integrator may call for variations. What does not vary is the rule: each phase ends with evidence that someone on the client side can open.
Inventory
Which documents, scenarios, events, certificates and customizations go through GRC today, with volume per CNPJ.
Evidence: spreadsheet signed by tax and IT.
Exit: no item without an owner and without a volume.
Mapping
Each inventory item linked to the DRC feature and to the equivalent configuration that SAP publishes, with what disappears marked.
Evidence: item-by-item table, with the decision recorded.
Exit: every line that disappears is assessed and accepted by the tax team.
Configuration
Subaccounts, ERP integration, certificates, tax setup and adaptation of the BAdIs that GRC used.
Evidence: credentials and certificates recorded.
Exit: communication with the cloud tested in the test environment.
Parity
The same cases run in GRC and in DRC, in the test environment, and the result is compared field by field.
Evidence: matrix with XML, protocol and posting on both sides.
Exit: zero difference, or explained and approved by the client.
Cutover
Window, freeze, NSU, certificates and rollback plan, with the decision criterion written beforehand.
Evidence: window script and list of the first invoices.
Exit: decision to proceed or roll back, with the tax lead.
Hypercare
Follow rejections, events and open items until the exit criterion, with the tax lead present.
Evidence: daily log of rejections, open items and NSU.
Exit: no open item and acceptance by the tax team.
Inventory: what goes through GRC today
The inventory comes first because, according to SAP, there is no official migration tool and the partner must examine the current implementation to estimate the effort (comment of 29/09/2023). Without it, the project finds out at cutover what was left out.
- Document types issued and received: NF-e, NFC-e, CT-e, MDF-e, NFS-e and NF3-e.
- Issuing scenarios by company and establishment: sale, return, transfer, service and freight.
- Events in use: cancellation, correction letter, voiding, contingency and recipient events.
- Automated inbound scenarios. SAP keeps KBA 2374911, with the list of GRC scenarios, which serves as a guide.
- FLEX processes and custom BAdIs of GRC, with the owner of each one.
- Digital certificates: which ones, whose, validity and where they are kept.
- Interfaces around GRC: PI, vendor XML email, logistics, TM, WM and LES.
- Monthly volume by document type and by CNPJ.
- XML repository: where the files are, for how long and who queries them.
- Owners: tax, IT, Basis and whoever manages the SAP BTP global account.
- Reports and queries that operations use in GRC.
- Contingency and reprocessing routines the team already has.
The SAP Tax Diagnostic helps list what depends on GRC and what needs action: see the tax diagnosticpage. Source of the inbound scenario list: KBA 2374911, updated on 19/02/2025.
Parity tests: the same invoice, two systems
A parity test is running the same case in both systems and comparing the result: the XML, the returned status, the posting and the bookkeeping. It is a DFSpro project concept, not an SAP product concept, and the matrix below is guidance for building yours.
| Case | What to prove | Evidence to keep |
|---|---|---|
| Regular sales NF-e | Authorized XML, key, protocol and DANFE equal in both worlds in the tax fields. | XML and protocol, side by side. |
| NF-e with provoked rejection | The code and the message reach the user and reprocessing works. | Log of the attempt and of the reprocessing. |
| Cancellation within the deadline | Authorized event and document canceled in the ERP. | Event XML and status in the monitor. |
| Correction letter (CC-e) | Event recorded and visible to the user. | Event XML. |
| Number voiding | Range voided and protocol received. | Protocol. |
| SVC contingency | Issue and regularization, where SAP indicates availability. | Record of the test or a note that it does not apply. |
| NFS-e from Rio or São Paulo | Issue and replacement of an issued invoice. | City response. |
| NFS-e from another municipality | Extension or partner path defined and tested. | City or partner response. |
| CT-e and MDF-e | Issue, event and XML sending. | XML and protocol. |
| Inbound vendor NF-e | Query by NSU, download, eDocument Cockpit and posting. | Count of documents received and the NSU. |
| Recipient event | Event sent and status returned. | Event XML and status. |
| XML and PDF by email | Email tags in the partner master respected. | Copy of the email. |
| Bookkeeping | Documents reach the EFD the same way as before. | Comparison of block C before and after. |
Approval criterion: zero difference in the tax fields of the XML, or a difference explained and approved by the client's tax lead, because the decision is theirs. The test environment (SEFAZ test) is defined in the business place configuration, as SAP describes in the equivalence table. Bookkeeping is covered in SPED Fiscal in SAP.
Cutover: the day communication changes owner
At cutover, the communication with SEFAZ changes owner. On inbound, SAP warns that a query out of sequence, or two applications querying the same CNPJ, can cause a rejection for misuse (implementation tips). That is why the NSU is the central point of the sequence, which is DFSpro guidance.
Freeze
Close the change list in GRC and in the tax ERP for the window and agree on who may issue and at what time.
Fix the NSU
Deactivate the previous application, record the last processed NSU and enter NSU+1 in inbound DRC.
Activate DRC
Switch DRC on by company and establishment, check certificates and test communication with the cloud before the first invoice.
First invoices
Issue a small set of real documents, chosen beforehand, and check XML, protocol and posting.
Decide
Proceed or roll back, with the criterion written before the window and with the tax lead present.
Rollback plan
Going back to GRC only makes sense if it keeps running in customer-specific maintenance, as SAP described on 07/03/2025, and if the NSU is handled on the way back with the same rigor as on the way in. The rollback criterion is written beforehand and decided by the client.
Hypercare: what to watch after the cutover
Hypercare is the period right after cutover, when the team follows the new environment closely. The places below come from SAP's sources (implementation tips and outbound what's new). The frequency and the length of the follow-up are a project decision.
| What to watch | Where, according to SAP | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Rejections by code | NF-e and CT-e monitor (J1BNFE) on outbound. eDocument Cockpit on inbound. | The cause may be tax data, a certificate or communication. |
| Pending documents | Transaction EDOC_BR_PENDING_DOCU. | XML that did not enter the eDocument Cockpit because of missing configuration. |
| Updated NSU and maximum NSU | Columns Updated NSU, Max NSU and Last SEFAZ Search of inbound DRC. | Shows whether the cloud is still downloading documents. |
| Recipient events | eDocument Cockpit. | Confirms that events go out after receiving is switched on. |
| Certificates | Certificate management in the ERP and TLS certificates. | An expired or missing certificate brings communication down. |
| Service news | The What's new list of each service. | A layout or Technical Note change arrives as an update. |
Exit criterion, as DFSpro guidance: no open item, rejections with no system cause, NSU up to date and acceptance by the tax lead. After the exit, stabilization becomes routine, the topic of the page on AMS Fiscal and post-go-live stabilization.
Risks that appear and decisions that belong to the client
Each risk below comes with the sign that reveals it and with who decides.
Reform not covered in GRC
Sign: new field on the NF-e with no handling in the product.
Who decides and what to do: the client decides the migration date. SAP wrote that customer-specific maintenance does not cover legal change.
Two applications on the same CNPJ
Sign: rejection for misuse on the document query.
Who decides and what to do: only one active application per CNPJ, with the NSU fixed at cutover.
Documents that do not come in
Sign: items in transaction EDOC_BR_PENDING_DOCU.
Who decides and what to do: fix the configuration and resend to the eDocument Cockpit, or discard what is no longer valid.
Customization that does not migrate
Sign: FLEX processes and BAdIs with no direct equivalent.
Who decides and what to do: tax and IT decide between rewriting in the framework and giving it up. Tax development is covered in ABAP and tax customization.
Cost of uploading old XML files
Sign: request to resend the history to the eDocument Cockpit.
Who decides and what to do: SAP counts each document in the licensing metric and recommends an external repository.
Loss of access to the global account
Sign: nobody can generate the credentials.
Who decides and what to do: identify the administrator before the project. SAP advises a ticket on component BC-NEO-CIS.
New TLS certificate not loaded
Sign: communication failure after 13/01/2026.
Who decides and what to do: download the new root certificates and do not remove the old one before the end of the transition.
Scope assumed without confirmation
Sign: a promise of NFC-e, of NFS-e for any city or of CBS and IBS.
Who decides and what to do: ask SAP in writing. The client decides with the answer.
Decisions that belong to the client
- Migrate to DRC or take another path for the document, and when.
- The target environment: outbound and inbound DRC, or cloud edition.
- Who takes each layer and which system is the source of the tax amount.
- Whether each difference found in parity is accepted or corrected.
- The cutover criterion and the rollback criterion.
- The tax thesis behind any setup.
DRC and GUEPARDO Tax solve different layers
The question that separates the layers is simple: was the invoice rejected for format or communication, or accepted with the wrong tax amount? In the first case, the investigation starts at the document. In the second, at the calculation and the tax assessment.
They are not mutually exclusive: they coexist in the same environment, and the decision is by environment and belongs to the client.
| Point | DRC (SAP) | GUEPARDO Tax (NTT DATA) |
|---|---|---|
| What each product describes | Compliance for electronic documents and statutory reports. In Brazil, the outbound and inbound options connect the ERP to the authorities through SAP BTP. Sources: SAP Brazil page and Feature Scope. | Solution for municipal, state and federal tax obligations, with centralized tax management, a single database, pre-validation, SPED reports and a tax calendar. Source: GUEPARDO Tax page. |
| Layer handled | The document: build, sign, transmit, receive, store and follow events. | Tax handling and assessment, file transmission to the tax authority, payment slip administration and credit control. |
| Who provides it | SAP. | NTT DATA. DFSpro is an Authorized Channel. |
| Question it answers | Was the document generated, signed and transmitted in the format SEFAZ accepts, and was the event recorded? | Do the assessment and the obligation file match what the ERP posted? |
Who calculates the invoice amount
- In the S/4HANA standard for Brazil, SAP assigns to the TAXBRA engine, or to Advanced Tax features, the determination of tax type, rate, base, CST and CFOP (SAP Community, 11/02/2026).
- Calculation and setup are covered in tax calculation in the Brazil localization.
Who handles the document
- SAP describes DRC as the issuing and receiving service for Brazil.
- NTT DATA also publishes GUEPARDO e-Invoicing, which manages issuing and receiving of tax documents integrated with SEFAZ and with SPED (NTT DATA products page).
- Comparing the two options for the document is the client's decision, by environment. There is no performance comparison here.
About the names ACR and TDF
SAP documents TDF in its own help, version 1.0, SP20 (TDF help), and ACR and DRC on separate pages. The map of the three names is in SAP TDF, and the view of the NTT DATA product is in GUEPARDO Tax.
The reform and the cutover date
The tax reform changes the invoice, so it enters the cutover date. What SAP wrote is short.
Customer-specific maintenance
The tax reform, due on 01/01/2026, is not covered by customer-specific maintenance of GRC NF-e.

CBS and IBS in DRC
The contracted DRC version applies. Written confirmation from SAP comes before the cutover date.
Before fixing the cutover date
- Confirm with SAP, in writing, what the contracted DRC version documents for the new field groups of the NF-e.
- Check the Technical Note in force and the mandatory date at the SEFAZ of each issuer's state. The tax lead decides.
- Run the parity with the new documents too, not only with today's.
- Record which system is the source of the CBS and IBS amount on the invoice.
The tax reading of the reform is in tax reform with CBS and IBS, and the new inbound events are in automatic inbound NF-e and CT-e.
Who does what: DFSpro and the client
In the project, DFSpro handles the tax layer and sells the service, without taking the integrator's place. The exact split is closed case by case in the scope.
DFSpro designs, configures and proves
- Designs the tax scenario for issuing and receiving and the border between document and calculation.
- Configures the tax side that feeds the XML and adapts in tax ABAP what GRC did in a BAdI.
- Proves the behavior with the parity matrix, the evidence and the difference report.
- Follows rejections and events at cutover and in hypercare.
The client decides
- Whether to migrate to DRC or take another path, and when.
- The tax thesis behind any setup.
- Whether to accept each difference found in parity.
- The cutover criterion and the rollback criterion.
- Who manages accounts, licenses and certificates.
Limit of our role
- DFSpro does not decide the tax thesis or the migration strategy: that belongs to the client.
- It does not replace the SAP integrator or the Basis team, who keep the technical installation, BTP, interfaces and certificates.
- It does not promise functionality that SAP or NTT DATA do not document.
- Credentials, certifications and pilots of NTT DATA belong to NTT DATA, not to DFSpro.

Frequently asked questions about the migration from GRC NF-e to DRC
01GRC NF-e lost mainstream maintenance. What do I need to decide now?+
How to keep issuing and receiving documents compliant. SAP planned the end of mainstream maintenance for 31/12/2025 and advises planning the migration to DRC. The choice of path, environment and date belongs to the client.
02What happens to my GRC NF-e after 31/12/2025?+
According to SAP, in a comment of 07/03/2025, the product can stay in use, because it enters customer-specific maintenance. Legal change is not covered, including the tax reform, and the customer would have to adjust the product on its own.
03Does SAP offer a migration tool from GRC NF-e to DRC?+
No. On 29/09/2023 SAP answered that there is no official migration tool and that the customer should look for official implementation partners. In the help for the outbound and inbound options, SAP publishes tables with the equivalent configuration.
04Is it mandatory to migrate to DRC?+
The legal obligation is to issue and receive documents under SEFAZ rules. SAP advises DRC, and NTT DATA publishes GUEPARDO e-Invoicing for issuing and receiving. Choosing between them, or another path, is the client's decision, by environment.
05Does DRC solve everything, or do I still need GUEPARDO Tax?+
It depends on the question. DRC handles the document: build, sign, transmit, receive and follow events. GUEPARDO Tax, according to NTT DATA, handles tax assessment, obligation files and the tax calendar. The two can coexist in the same environment.
06Does DRC replace GUEPARDO Tax?+
No, because the sources describe different layers. DRC handles the document, and GUEPARDO Tax handles assessment and obligations, according to NTT DATA. For the tax determination on the invoice, in the S/4HANA standard, SAP assigns it to the TAXBRA engine.
07Does DRC issue NFC-e, CT-e, MDF-e and NFS-e?+
SAP's Feature Scope, of 17/03/2025, lists NF-e, NF3-e, CT-e and MDF-e at SEFAZ and NFS-e of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. NFS-e of other cities goes by extension. NFC-e must be confirmed with SAP.
08Does DRC receive and post inbound invoices by itself?+
Inbound DRC queries status, downloads NF-e and CT-e and sends recipient events through the eDocument Cockpit. Posting depends on the framework processes and on the client's setup. Receiving XML in the outbound scope, according to SAP, does not include automation.
09Can I use DRC on S/4HANA Cloud?+
On the Public Edition, SAP wrote on 31/10/2022 that outbound DRC is the only messaging system available and that third-party messaging is not integrated for NF-e model 55 and for NFS-e of São Paulo and Rio. For the Private Edition, confirm outbound DRC support with SAP.
10Does DRC already handle CBS and IBS?+
For CBS and IBS in DRC, the contracted version applies: written confirmation from SAP comes before the cutover date.
11How do I avoid a rejection for misuse on the NSU query during the switch?+
According to SAP, deactivate the previous application, find the last processed NSU and enter NSU+1 in inbound DRC. A query out of sequence, or two applications querying the same CNPJ, can cause the rejection. The NSU is the central point of the cutover script.
12What should I do with the XML files stored in GRC NF-e?+
SAP recommends moving the GRC XML files to an external repository. Uploading old documents to the eDocument Cockpit counts each one as a processed document in the licensing metric, and SAP does not recommend it at high volume, because of the cost.
13How long does the migration take and how much does it cost?+
The timeline varies with complexity, volume and customizations, and DFSpro does not assume a standard timeline or an off-the-shelf price. The scope is defined after the inventory of what goes through GRC today, and that is what supports any estimate.
14Does DFSpro carry out the migration to DRC?+
In the project, DFSpro handles the tax layer: it designs the scenario, configures the tax side, adapts what is tax ABAP and proves the behavior with evidence. Technical installation, BTP, interfaces and certificates stay with the integrator and Basis. DFSpro does not replace the integrator.
15We already have an SAP integrator. Why involve DFSpro?+
Because the document migration tends to hide a calculation problem, and the two layers call for different owners. The integrator leads the technical part. DFSpro handles what the tax team needs to see: correct fields in the XML, events, parity and tax amount.
16Who decides the migration and the tax thesis?+
The client decides the migration strategy, the date, the environment and the tax thesis behind each setup. DFSpro designs the scenario, configures the tax side and proves the system behavior, and presents the differences to the tax lead, who approves or corrects.
17What must we have ready before starting?+
The service license, access to the SAP BTP global account, certificates, and the list of what goes through GRC today. If the inventory does not exist, it is the first phase of the work, not a prerequisite the client must meet alone.
18Where do I start?+
With the inventory of what goes through GRC today. The SAP Tax Diagnostic helps map what depends on it and what needs action, and you can request it through the contactpage.
Start with what depends on GRC today
The first step is the inventory of the documents and scenarios that go through GRC NF-e, together with the tax layer that feeds them.
