Tax assessment in SAP: from the tax calculated on each invoice to the balance the company signs

Calculating the tax on an invoice is one thing. Assessing the period is another: add up the debits from sales, subtract the credits from purchases, apply the adjustments, carry in the balance from the previous period, and reach a number that becomes a payment slip, a file and a declaration to the tax authority. SAP takes part in every one of these steps, and the failure is usually in the handoff between them.

The path of the number

From the invoice to the file and the payment slip, in four steps

Calculating the tax on an invoice is one thing; assessing the period is another. The number goes through four steps, and the failure is usually in the handoff between them. See the assessment flow, month by month.

01

Recorded document, with CFOP and taxes.

02

Calculation

Tax on each line, in the document.

03

Assessment

Debits minus credits, for the period.

04

Calculation and assessment: two different questions

Mixing the two is where most close errors begin.

Calculation answers "how much tax is on this invoice". Assessment answers "how much does the company owe the tax authority in this period, by tax and by establishment, and how does it prove it".

Calculation

How much tax is on this invoice?

  • Where it happens. In the document, on each item line, at billing or when the invoice is received.
  • What comes out of it. A tax amount per item, saved on the invoice.
  • What it depends on. Master data, determination rules, rate and benefit tables.
  • Who usually gets it wrong. Setup and master data, owned by tax and IT.
  • How the error shows up. Rejected invoice, wrong amount on a line, customer complaint.
  • Where it lives in SAP. Calculation schemas and tax determination in the Brazil localization, or an external engine. More on this on the page about tax calculation and the Brazil localization.
Assessment

How much does the company owe the tax authority in this period?

  • Where it happens. In the period, with all invoices recorded, at the close.
  • What comes out of it. A balance by tax and by establishment: to pay, to carry forward or to recover.
  • What it depends on. Recorded documents, adjustments, reversals, the balance from the previous period and deductions.
  • Who usually gets it wrong. Tax, accounting and controllership, with IT in the handoff.
  • How the error shows up. A balance that does not match the ledger, a payment slip different from the file, a tax audit flag, a lost credit.
  • Where it lives in SAP. Tax reports, recording routines and reconciliation with accounting; SPED reports from the SAP Tax Declaration Framework or from GUEPARDO Tax.

Why the distinction matters

A wrong calculation

is, as a rule, a setup or master data problem, and it shows up on every invoice.

  • Setup
  • Master data
  • On every invoice

A wrong assessment

can come from invoices that are all correct. Examples:

  • Credit not claimed
  • Adjustment posted outside the system
  • Credit balance not carried forward

What the calculation hides

Anyone who looks only at the invoice calculation sees none of this. The check has to reach the period.

  • Close
  • General ledger
  • File

The rule underneath is non-cumulativity

ICMS

The tax due on each transaction is offset against the amount charged on earlier transactions.

Legal basis: LC 87, art. 19

IPI

Credit for the tax on products received, deducted from the tax due on products sold, within the same period.

Legal basis: RIPI, art. 225

PIS and Cofins

Charged on the month's revenue, with a discount for credits.

Legal basis: Law 10.637, arts. 1 and 3

The result for the period is a difference.

  • You pay
  • You carry it forward
  • You ask for it back
The flow

From invoice to file, six steps

The same path applies to the taxes assessed by period. What changes from tax to tax is the period, the credit rule and the entry in the file.

  1. Step 01

    Recorded document

The authorized invoice, inbound or outbound, is recorded with CFOP, tax status and the amount of each tax. Without a record, there is no debit or credit to add up. This is where the flow of electronic tax documents and the inbound invoice flow meet the tax team.

  2. Step 02

    Classification as debit or credit

Each line becomes a debit (taxed sale) or a credit (purchase that gives the right to a credit). LC 87 excludes from the credit the exempt or untaxed purchases and those unrelated to the establishment's activity art. 20. The rule that decides this lives in the setup.

  3. Step 03

    Adjustments, reversals and deductions

Benefits, credit reversals, late credits and deductions enter as adjustments. In the ICMS file, each one is itemized by code in record E111 EFD Practical Guide. An adjustment with no code and no document is the start of many differences.

  4. Step 04

    Period balance

Debits plus debit adjustments, minus credits, credit adjustments and the credit balance from the previous period. If debits exceed credits, there is an amount to pay; if credits exceed debits, the balance is carried forward LC 87, art. 24.

  5. Step 05

    Payment slip and payment

The balance to pay becomes a payment slip, with a revenue code and a due date set by the law of the government level involved. For ICMS, the deadline is set by the State LC 87, art. 24. Record E116 itemizes the obligations and must match E110 EFD Practical Guide.

  6. Step 06

    File and reconciliation

The assessment is recorded in the ancillary obligation file and reconciled with the general ledger. Ajuste SINIEF 02/2009 defines the EFD as the set of information needed to assess the taxes first clause. A difference found here is found late.

The flow applies to taxes assessed by period. ISS follows another logic, because the tax belongs to the municipality and the taxable event, the place and the withholding follow LC 116. The next section shows each tax under its own rule. The files that close step 06 are covered on the page about ancillary obligations and SPED.

How to apply itcheck suggested by DFSpro

Design your flow with one owner per step. When two steps have the same owner, the check between them stops existing in practice. When a step has no owner, the manual adjustment shows up there.

ICMS: the tax where the assessment gets stuck most

The period comes from state law. Debits greater than credits create an amount to pay by the State's deadline; credits greater than debits are carried forward to the next period.

The credit requires a valid document and a record, and expires five years after issue.

In the file, record E110 holds debits, credits, adjustments, the previous balance and the amount to pay, even for a period with no activity. Record E116 must match it.

ICMS-ST and DIFAL: two parallel assessments

Tax substitution has its own period and balance, by state, in records E200 and E210, even for states where the company has no substitute registration.

DIFAL has a separate assessment in E300, following EC 87/2015. Under LC 190, the differential is owed by the recipient if it is a taxpayer or, if it is not a taxpayer, by the sender.

In SAP, the rule for each state lives in the setup: it takes only one branch that differs for the state balance to become inconsistent. See tax setup and tax master data. For the path from the document to the payment slip, see ICMS-ST and DIFAL in SAP.

Sources: E200 and E210 E300 LC 190, art. 1

IPI, PIS and Cofins: monthly period, credit by input

IPI is assessed by month on sales by the industrial establishment or equivalent, except the tax charged at customs clearance. The credit is recorded against a document.

PIS and Cofins are charged on the month's revenue and allow credit for goods for resale and for inputs. The input rule by material and service must be recorded and reviewed.

The credit balance that exists when the contributions are extinguished has its own rule in LC 214, in the reform section.

Sources: RIPI, art. 259 RIPI, art. 251 Law 10.637, art. 3

ISS and IRPJ: outside the single-invoice logic

ISS belongs to the municipality and, as a rule, is due at the place of the service provider's establishment, with legal exceptions. Municipal law may assign responsibility to a third party, which creates withholding.

IRPJ follows accounting and the quarterly period, not the invoice-by-invoice record.

The handoff with SAP goes through NFS-e, withholdings and the general ledger, not through the ICMS path. See also ISS assessment in SAP and IRPJ and CSLL assessment in SAP.

Decision matrix

Where the difference starts

Nine common symptoms, each with the likely cause and the point where the investigation should start.

ICMS balance in SAP different from the generated E110 file

Likely cause. A correction typed outside the system on closing day, with the file generated from another number.

Where to look first. Adjustments for the period, record E111, who posted them and with what document.

The same tax assessed differently in two branches

Likely cause. Tax determination never standardized across units, or a local exception that became the standard.

Where to look first. Setup by branch, tables by state, change history.

ICMS or IPI credit that does not appear in the balance

Likely cause. Invoice not recorded, wrong CFOP or tax status on the inbound side, five-year deadline missed.

Where to look first. Invoices with an access key but no record, the inbound rule, the document issue date.

Payment slip with a different amount from the file

Likely cause. E116 that does not match E110, DEB_ESP not considered, payment from a previous period mixed in.

Where to look first. Sum of the obligations, amounts outside the assessment, due date by obligation code.

ST or DIFAL balance inconsistent with the state's

Likely cause. ST handled inside the company's own assessment, a state with no period reported, an outdated state rule.

Where to look first. Records E200, E210 and E300, substitution table, period by state.

Tax assessment different from the accounting one

Likely cause. A tax account in the ledger moved by manual entry, a reconciliation that only happens after the file.

Where to look first. The ledger for the tax accounts against the assessed balance, before the file is generated.

PIS and Cofins with less credit than expected

Likely cause. Input rule not recorded by material or service, credit base without a document.

Where to look first. Material and service master data, recording of inbound invoices, check against the EFD-Contribuições.

Tax paid that was already offset

Likely cause. Credit balance from the previous period not carried forward when the period or the environment changed.

Where to look first. Opening balance of each period and the carry-forward of the credit balance, under the rule in art. 24 of LC 87.

Required record missing in a month with no activity

Likely cause. The belief that there is nothing to report when the period had no transactions.

Where to look first. Generation of E110 with zero values, even with no activity.

The table does not replace the diagnosis, but it puts the investigation in order: almost every assessment difference is solved by looking first at what was entered by hand, then at what was handled differently between units, and only then at the invoice calculation. The SAP Tax Diagnostic follows this investigation sequence.

Start with the symptom you already have

If any of these symptoms already shows up in your close, talk to DFSpro about your case and bring the tax, the establishment and the period where it appears.

In SAP

Structure, master data, calculation and report in SAP

The assessment rests on four points of the environment: structure, master data, calculation and report. SAP documents each one, and the risk reading belongs to the tax layer.

  1. 01

    Structure: business place

A unit between the company and the plant, used to report sales and purchase taxes, report invoices and number official documents.

Assessment by establishment depends on this structure reflecting the real CNPJs.

    Source: SAP Library, Business Place

  2. 02

    Master data

The material master holds the NCM, the CFOP category and the material usage, which the system uses to determine the CFOP, calculate taxes and generate the invoice.

What enters wrong in the master runs through calculation, recording and assessment. See tax master data.

    Source: SAP Library, Material Master

  3. 03

    Calculation

Inclusion of taxes in the pricing procedure TAXBRA; in S/4HANA Cloud, a condition (TXSC) calls an external tax engine through Integration Suite.

The path you choose defines where the rule lives. See tax calculation and the Brazil localization.

  4. 04

    SAP Tax Declaration Framework

An integrated tax management solution for Brazil. It runs the SPED EFD ICMS/IPI (/TMF/EFD) reports, EFD-Contribuições (/TMF/PCO), ECD and ECF, and includes the Tax Obligation Monitor, the PIS/COFINS Control Credits Suite for Brazil and the Nota Fiscal Viewer. The EFD-Reinf report covers income paid and taxes withheld.

It generates the files in which the assessment is delivered.

    GUEPARDO Tax

A solution from NTT DATA that assesses taxes and generates and validates SPED, with a tax calendar and an audit trail. The license is sold by DFSpro, an Authorized Channel. See GUEPARDO Tax.

The choice between one path and the other belongs to the client. In both, the company keeps the master data, the classification and the check of the result.

    Source: GUEPARDO Tax page

How to apply itcheck suggested by DFSpro

List, by tax and by establishment, who generates the number that goes on the payment slip: standard report, custom Z report, GUEPARDO Tax or spreadsheet. Where the answer is a spreadsheet, the assessment has a single point of failure outside the system. Before migrating or connecting an external engine, find out where the assessment lives today: in ECC, part of it tends to live in Z reports and spreadsheets. The page on ECC to S/4HANA migration shows what happens to these rules in the conversion, and the one on tax Clean Core explains why keeping the tax rule outside the core lowers the cost of each law change.

Governance

Who signs the balance, and with what record

A good assessment is one that someone can explain, month by month, showing where each number came from.

01

Owner by tax and by establishment

Each balance has a named owner, with a backup. Without an owner, the last-minute adjustment becomes routine and nobody signs it.

02

Adjustment trail

Every debit adjustment, credit adjustment or reversal has a code, a document and an author. The ICMS file already requires itemizing by code in E111 Practical Guide.

03

Group rule and local exception

Decide in writing what applies to all units and what is a legitimate exception for one State. Without this record, a local exception tends to be copied to the next unit.

04

Reconciliation before the file

Check the assessed balance against the ledger for the tax accounts before generating the SPED. Finding the difference after transmission costs a correction filing.

The assessment is the point of the tax close where the consequences of decisions made months earlier in setup, master data and process show up together. So its governance is not solved with a better report alone. It needs a design of responsibilities, a calendar the team keeps and a record of what was decided.

What DFSpro does in this area

  • Reviews the tax setup and the master data behind debits and credits, and checks the assessment against the current rule and against accounting before any file is generated.
  • Develops in ABAP and customizes the tax layer when the client's rule requires it, taking care to keep the core clean, as the page on tax Clean Coreshows.
  • Follows the first real assessment cycle after a change, to catch drift early.

What stays out

  • The overall architecture of the SAP project, which stays with the integrator. DFSpro works on its tax layer.
  • Tax regime, tax positions and incentives: decisions that belong to the client, which DFSpro does not make for it.
  • A promise of results. The work delivers a rule that is documented, checked and traceable, and what that produces depends on each company's environment.

This area connects to the SAP Tax Governance Program, which organizes responsibilities and the calendar of the tax layer, and to the AMS Fiscal Advisory, which keeps the routine running after go-live. For those who assess with GUEPARDO Tax, the product's assessment section is on the page about GUEPARDO Tax governance.

Tax reform

What the reform changes in the period account

LC 214 deals with more than rates: it redefines how the balance is assessed, declared and paid. These are the rules already set in law.

  1. General ruleAssessment periodFor each period, the taxpayer assesses the IBS and CBS balances separately: debits for the period minus credits claimed, including presumed credits and the previous balance to recover LC 214, art. 45.
  2. 2027 and 2028CBS and IBS at a reduced rateThe CBS reference rate is reduced by 0.1 percentage point art. 347 and IBS is charged at 0.05% state and 0.05% municipal art. 344.
  3. When PIS and Cofins are extinguishedCredits preservedCredits not used by the time the contributions are extinguished remain valid if recorded in the books, and can offset CBS or be refunded LC 214, art. 378.
  4. 2029 to 2032ISS going downISS rates are reduced by a growing share of the rates in force on 31/12/2028, starting at 10% in 2029 LC 116, art. 8-B.

The mechanisms of LC 214, one by one

MechanismWhat the law saysWhat changes for assessment in SAP
Assessment by periodThe taxpayer assesses the IBS and CBS balances separately; adjustments are those set in the regulation; the assessment amounts to an acknowledgment of debt art. 45.The assessed number becomes declaratory and creates the tax credit. There is no room left to fix it later as an internal detail.
Assisted assessmentThe RFB and the IBS Steering Committee may present the assisted assessment, based on electronic tax documents and on the extinction of debts. If it is presented, the taxpayer assesses only by adjustments to it. Once confirmed or adjusted, it creates the credit; with no response within the deadline, the balance is presumed correct art. 46.The company's system now has to check and contest a balance that arrives already calculated. Documents must be reconciled one by one within the deadline.
Ways to extinguish the debtOffset, payment, split payment, payment by the buyer and payment by the responsible party art. 27.The balance to pay is the assessed amount minus what was already extinguished by split payment, by the buyer or by the responsible party art. 45, § 3.
Split paymentPayment service providers separate and remit IBS and CBS at financial settlement, linking the electronic tax document to the payment transaction; LC 227/2026 created the standard and the simplified procedure art. 31.A reconciliation appears between what the customer paid, what was separated and the debit for the period. Assessment still exists, and the split changes when the payment happens.
Segregated creditsCredits are claimed separately, and offsetting an IBS credit against an amount due in CBS, or the reverse, is prohibited art. 47, § 1, I.Each document must carry the IBS credit and the CBS credit separately. There is no single credit account.
Refund and balance to recoverA balance to recover at the end of the period may be the subject of a full or partial refund request; what is not requested becomes credit for later periods art. 39.Managing the balance to recover enters the cash routine, and the record by period must be traceable.
Deadline and due dateThe regulation sets the deadline to complete the assessment and the due date art. 44. The balance to pay is paid by the due date art. 29.A new close calendar, set by the regulation. The deadline for assisted assessment is the same as the deadline to contest it.

Two reading notes. First: the law says assisted assessment "may" be presented, not that it "will" be. The ERP has to work in both cases, with and without a ready assessment arriving from outside. Second: the regulation still defines deadlines and due dates, and the text above states only what the law has already fixed.

Late-payment penalty for IBS and CBS: the 20% cap arrives on day 61

Anyone who pays the balance after the due date also pays a late-payment penalty of 0.33% per day of delay, capped at 20% art. 29, § 2, I, and § 4. Enter the amount and drag the days to see the curve and the point where it stops growing.

The rule and a few points on the curve

  • Penalty: 0.33% per day of delay art. 29, § 2, I, counted from the first day after the due date until the day of payment § 3.
  • Cap: the penalty percentage is limited to 20% § 4. At 0.33% per day, 60 days give 19.80% and the cap applies from day 61.
  • Interest, outside this calculation: the Selic rate from the first day of the month after the due date until the month before payment, and 1% in the month of payment § 2, II.

Source: consolidated text of Complementary Law 214/2025, as worded by LC 227/2026 (art. 29, § 2 to § 4). The article does not detail the penalty base or say whether a day of delay is a calendar day or a business day: the example applies the percentage to the balance paid late and counts every day of delay. When the tax amount has already served as the base for a punitive fine, the late-payment penalty does not apply until the ex officio assessment is notified art. 341-D, sole paragraph. The regulation and the start date of collection are not covered here, and interest depends on the accumulated Selic rate and the month of payment.

During the transition, the environment assesses the current regime and the new one at the same time. The page on Tax Reform (CBS and IBS) in SAP covers the calendar and what changes by tax, and the blog texts go deeper into specific points: the assisted assessment of CBS and who closes the month first, the cash redesign brought by split payment and the summary of what changes in IBS and CBS assessment.

Test your assessment against the new regime

If you do not yet know which invoices and which credits your environment can reconcile by document, describe your scenario to DFSpro and start by mapping where each debit and each credit comes from.

Step by step

Close review in ten steps

A routine that works for any tax assessed by period.

  1. 01

    Taxes and periods

List the taxes the establishment assesses and the period for each (monthly, ten-day, quarterly), citing the rule of each government level.

  2. 02

    Recorded invoices

Confirm that all invoices for the period, inbound and outbound, were recorded. Compare the list of authorized keys with the list of recorded ones.

  3. 03

    Purchases without credit

Review the purchases without credit: for each one, record the reason (exempt, untaxed, unrelated to the activity, use and consumption).

  4. 04

    Adjustments for the period

List all adjustments for the period, with code, amount, source document and author. An adjustment without a document goes back to the owner.

  5. 05

    Assessed balance

Run the assessment and check the balance against an independent control account that does not use the same report.

  6. 06

    General ledger

Compare the assessed balance with the ledger for the tax accounts and explain each difference before moving on.

  7. 07

    ST and DIFAL

Check ICMS-ST and DIFAL in assessments separate from the company's own, by state, even in periods with no activity.

  8. 08

    Payment slips

Generate the payment slips and confirm that the sum of the obligations matches the balance to pay plus the amounts outside the assessment.

  9. 09

    File

Generate the file and validate it: the balance in the file must be the system's balance, with no adjustment made outside.

  10. 10

    Record of decisions

Record the decisions for the period: what was adjusted, why, by whom and what changes next month.

Checklist before the close

  • Recorded invoices checked against authorized ones
  • Purchases without credit explained by reason
  • Adjustments with code, amount and document
  • Credit balance from the previous period carried in
  • ST and DIFAL assessments kept separate

Checklist before the file

  • Balance reconciled with the ledger before the file
  • Payment slip matches the obligations record
  • File equal to the system balance
  • Local exception recorded with owner and deadline
  • Rule change with a named owner

Take the example to your own numbers

What matters is redoing each calculation with your own establishments. If the numbers do not match, a conversation through the contact page helps find where the difference is.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about tax assessment in SAP

01What is the difference between tax calculation and tax assessment?+

Calculation determines the tax on each line of an invoice, at billing or on receipt. Assessment adds up, over the period, the debits from sales and the credits from purchases, applies adjustments and the previous balance, and arrives at the amount to pay or carry forward. The errors are different too: a wrong calculation shows up on the invoice, and a wrong assessment can come from correct invoices.

02Who sets the ICMS assessment period?+

The law of each State. LC 87, art. 24, says that state law sets the assessment period and that the obligations fall due at its end. Debits greater than credits create a difference to pay by the deadline the State sets, and credits greater than debits are carried forward to the next period.

03What happens when the credit is greater than the debit?+

In ICMS, the difference is carried forward to the next period (LC 87, art. 24, III). In the file, it appears as a credit balance to carry forward in record E110. In CBS and IBS, a negative balance is a balance to recover, which can be used for a refund or an offset under LC 214 (art. 45, § 3, II).

04Does an ICMS credit have a deadline for use?+

Yes. LC 87, art. 23, makes the credit depend on valid documentation and, where applicable, on recording within the deadlines in the law. The right to use the credit expires five years after the document is issued. That is why a sweep for invoices with no record is part of the assessment routine.

05Are PIS and Cofins assessed by invoice or by period?+

By period. The law provides for the tax to be charged on total revenue earned in the month, with a discount for credits on goods for resale, inputs and other cases (Laws 10.637 and 10.833, arts. 1 and 3). The invoice carries the information, but the assessment is monthly and depends on recording the inbound invoices.

06How is IPI assessed?+

The IPI assessment period on sales by the industrial establishment or equivalent is monthly, except for the tax charged at customs clearance (RIPI, art. 259). The credit is recorded against a valid document (art. 251). In the EFD, record E500 accepts a monthly period alongside ten-day periods.

07Is IRPJ part of the same routine as ICMS?+

Not in the same way. IRPJ is determined by quarterly periods, closing on 31 March, 30 June, 30 September and 31 December (Law 9.430, art. 1), and it comes from accounting, not from invoice-by-invoice records. SAP takes part through accounting and the obligations tied to ECD and ECF.

08What do records E110 and E116 have to do with the assessment?+

E110 holds the ICMS assessment for own transactions: debits, credits, adjustments, previous credit balance, amount to pay and credit balance to carry forward. E116 itemizes the obligations to pay, and their sum must equal the sum of VL_ICMS_RECOLHER and DEB_ESP in E110. Together they close the period's account in the file.

09Is a manual adjustment outside SAP a problem?+

It is the most expensive kind of difference. The filing can go out on time, but with an amount the company's system can no longer reproduce. What the tax authority cross-checks is the file, and what the company has to prove is the system. An adjustment that has a code, a document and an author, and was posted inside the environment before the file was generated, is the safe path.

10What changes with the assisted assessment of CBS and IBS?+

The RFB and the IBS Steering Committee may present the taxpayer with the balance assessed from electronic tax documents. If it is presented, the taxpayer assesses only by adjustments to it, and the confirmation or adjustment creates the tax credit. With no response within the deadline, the balance is presumed correct (LC 214, art. 46). The ERP has to reconcile and contest within the deadline.

11Does split payment eliminate the assessment?+

No. Split payment is one of the ways to extinguish the debt (LC 214, art. 27, III), and the balance to pay is the assessed balance minus what was already extinguished by split payment, by the buyer or by the responsible party (art. 45, § 3). The amount due still has to be determined, period by period. What changes is the moment of payment and the reconciliation with cash.

12Can I offset a CBS credit against IBS due?+

No. LC 214, art. 47, § 1, I, requires IBS and CBS credits to be claimed separately, and always prohibits the credit of one from offsetting the amount due of the other. Each document must carry the two separately.

13What happens to the PIS and Cofins credit balance in the reform?+

PIS and Cofins credits not claimed or not used by the time the contributions are extinguished remain valid and usable, as long as they are recorded in the books, and can be used to offset CBS, or be refunded or offset against other federal taxes, subject to the requirements of the law (LC 214, art. 378). Correct recording in the books is the condition.

14Does SAP do the assessment by itself?+

It depends on the design. The Brazil localization determines the tax on the invoice, and SAP offers the SAP Tax Declaration Framework for Brazil, with SPED EFD ICMS/IPI and EFD-Contribuições reports. Other environments use GUEPARDO Tax, which assesses and generates SPED. Whichever path is used, the company keeps the master data, the classification and the check of the result. To take these numbers to a dashboard, see what to evaluate in GUEPARDO Analytics.

15What does DFSpro do in this area?+

DFSpro is an SAP Tax Governance consultancy. It works on the tax layer of the project: it reviews setup and master data, checks the assessment against the current rule and against accounting, and develops in ABAP and customizes the tax layer when the rule requires it. It does not replace the integrator on the overall architecture. The GUEPARDO Tax license, a product of NTT DATA, is sold by DFSpro, an Authorized Channel.

16Where do I start organizing the assessment?+

With a matrix that crosses each tax with each establishment and says who generates the number, where it comes from and who checks it. Where the answer is a spreadsheet or a manual adjustment, you have the first point of risk. To build the map, use the readiness assessment or talk through the contact page.

Start with the tax where your close depends most on spreadsheets

If you already know which tax and which establishment cause the most work at close, the conversation starts there. If the question is how the assessment fits your SAP project, the readiness assessment organizes the mapping.
